What To Expect

Alcatraz Island

Once you take the ferry over to Alcatraz Island and you are dropped off, you will make your way up to the main prison building, where you receive an audio headset, and the audio tour will guide you through the Alcatraz Prison. Once the audio tour is over, you can continue taking pictures and exploring the Island, or you can walk back down to the ferry landing and hop on the next ferry headed back to San Francisco. The Alcatraz tour typically takes 2-3 hours to enjoy.

We were happy to find 5 tickets for an Alcatraz tour at Alcatraz Bikes and Tours. We hole service was very good: we ordered tickets by Viator and received them by email directly. A day before the trip the owner sented us an email so we would be on time. When we picked up the tickets he told us that he had to buy 1 extra ticket to offer us our order. That’s was a great service!

I failed to book Alcatra tickets for my son and I but we were able to get next day tickets through here. We opted to rent the bikes which made seeing San Francisco so much easier. I highly recommend upgrading to the e-bike, even as an experienced cyclist the ride to the bridge would have been a challenge, but with the e-bike we glided right on up.
