Our guide, Jaclyn, set the tone for a solemn, deeply moving experience. There is a big difference from having watched the 911 attack and its aftermath unfold on television and actually being on the site of Ground Zero - taking in the incredibly moving tributes and the memorial created atop the South and North Tower footprints. The names set in stone, rows of oak trees, waterfalls and white roses commemorating birthdays of those who passed - just some of the things creating an atmosphere of reverence. Inside the museum - most moving of all - was the opportunity to listen to the voices of family and friends describe the lives of those who died. Jacklyn is a highly skilled story teller and educator - everyone in my group appreciated how she took us through the history of 911 and shared her own personal connection to that day. I gained a deeper understanding of the event while at the same time paying tribute to those we lost.
