Amelia Island Guided Kayak Tour of Lofton Creek

Overview
The Lofton Creek Kayak Tour is perfect for paddlers of any level, including children and beginners. It’s an intimate nature experience in which participants can expect to get up close and personal with turtles, alligators, snakes, otters, and occasionally, manatees. The terrestrial nature of the forest attracts pileated woodpeckers, red shoulder hawks, and the curious anhinga, sometimes referred to as the “water turkey.” The protected makeup of Lofton Creek means paddling here is “weather resistant” to tumultuous coastal conditions. A south-bound paddle on Lofton Creek provides picturesque marsh views, whereas a north-bound paddle is a more remote, forested experience. The Lofton Creek Kayak Tour is a guaranteed good time for everyone in your group!

My son and daughter treated our family to a kayak tour of Lofton Creek on our annual trip to Fernandina Beach. We’ve done lots of kayaking in the marsh over the years, but this trip was unique and beautiful. Lofton is a blackwater creek in Yulee that winds under beautiful cypress trees that provide cool shade on a hot summer day. This is old Florida to me and I felt like an early Spanish explorer! The current is gentle making for easy paddling both down and back upstream. Surprislngly, there were no bugs! Our guide Aaron was very friendly and knowledgeable. He clearly loves the beauty of the trees, flowers, and animals that live along the creek and he answered all of our questions. We saw turtles, birds, blooming flowers, and lots of lush tropical vegetation. Aaron even found a shy young alligator for us! The kayaks are comfortable and stable and easy to maneuver. Aaron was an awesome guide. We will definitely use Amelia Island Kayak Excursions again! Great trip for families of all ages!

Our guide was really knowledgeable. We always felt safe and she knew a lot of neat facts about the area and wildlife. The equipment was well maintained and we started/finished as promised.
