Amelia Island Guided Kayak Tour of Lofton Creek

Overview
The Lofton Creek Kayak Tour is perfect for paddlers of any level, including children and beginners. It’s an intimate nature experience in which participants can expect to get up close and personal with turtles, alligators, snakes, otters, and occasionally, manatees. The terrestrial nature of the forest attracts pileated woodpeckers, red shoulder hawks, and the curious anhinga, sometimes referred to as the “water turkey.” The protected makeup of Lofton Creek means paddling here is “weather resistant” to tumultuous coastal conditions. A south-bound paddle on Lofton Creek provides picturesque marsh views, whereas a north-bound paddle is a more remote, forested experience. The Lofton Creek Kayak Tour is a guaranteed good time for everyone in your group!

A big thank you to my kayaking guide Jonathon Canale for making this the best day of my vacation. First, let me say that Cumberland Island is one of my all-time favorite National Parks. Where else can we see wild horses roaming around, not to mention wild turkeys, pigs, alligators etc. Jonathon is a fountain of knowledge on the wildlife in the area and brought so much more to the table than most tour guides. He was an absolute pleasure to be with . . . and it didn't hurt that he happens to look like a George Clooney stunt double! Highly recommend Amelia Adventures for a memorable kayaking experience.

Our guided kayak tour was awesome. Thomas led us across the river to Cumberland island where we saw 2 groups of wild horses. The horses walked by us just a few feet away. I especially liked the kayaking pointers Thomas gave us that made paddling a lot easier. The complementary photography was a nice touch as well.
