Amelia Island Guided Kayak Tour of Lofton Creek

Overview
The Lofton Creek Kayak Tour is perfect for paddlers of any level, including children and beginners. It’s an intimate nature experience in which participants can expect to get up close and personal with turtles, alligators, snakes, otters, and occasionally, manatees. The terrestrial nature of the forest attracts pileated woodpeckers, red shoulder hawks, and the curious anhinga, sometimes referred to as the “water turkey.” The protected makeup of Lofton Creek means paddling here is “weather resistant” to tumultuous coastal conditions. A south-bound paddle on Lofton Creek provides picturesque marsh views, whereas a north-bound paddle is a more remote, forested experience. The Lofton Creek Kayak Tour is a guaranteed good time for everyone in your group!

During our honeymoon, we had hoped to spend the day hiking around Cumberland Island and then later on doing a sunset kayak tour. Due to damages related to Hurricane Matthew, the ferry wasn't running so we opted for the kayak tour to Cumberland Island. I am so glad we did this. It was high tide so we were able to get very close to the island itself which meant we got very close to the wild horses. On the trek over and on the trek back, dolphins were splashing around within feet of our kayak. I got a very quick glimpse of a manatee which was so exciting. Tom, our tour guide, was awesome. He gave us a lot of information about the area, stayed with us, and constantly checked in to make sure we were doing alright. I've kayaked only one other time- and it was on a lake, no waves, no current, etc. My husband and I opted for the tandem kayak as he has much more experience than I do. As a new kayaker and a fairly in shape person, this wasn't an easy breezy tour. We put in some effort to get over to the island and back again. However, let me be very clearly, it was worth it! I highly recommend this tour and this company. On my next visit to the area, we are doing the sunset tour. We've already put Tom on notice that he has not seen the last of us!

We were in town for a wedding and wanted to do something fun! We saw the reviews for Amelia Adventures and Kayak and they definitely were not lying!!!! Catherine spoke to us on the phone and got us all set up! She was so friendly and helpful! Then Thomas was our guide and NONE of us had every kayaked before and within 5 minutes we were doing good from his instructions!! He was so fun and did such a good job not only guiding us down the beautiful Lofton Creek but also being our professional photographer!!! That is sooo awesome ! AND you do not have to pay extra for your professional pictures!! Let me tell you...these ppl are awesome and it was a wonderful experience that when we come back to Amelia Island...they will be our first call for a beautiful experience of florida!
