One of the least endearing aspects of this place is to arbitrarily close parts of the museum, for sleep-over events and the like. We've been disappointed twice by this. If you want to visit, please check their website several times before going there. However...... If you are even remotely keen on minerals and/or gems, you must see their newly opened halls of gems and minerals. If you want to see it without droves of tourists, aim at turning up at around 10.00am, but you might be lucky if you turn up later. The exhibits are nothing short of wonderful! We spent three hours in the Hall of Minerals, and then topped it up with half an hour looking at meteorites, including the 34-ton Cape York specimen (with foundations going down to the New York bedrock).

Amazing museum and super interesting facts about different species. It takes about 3-4 hours to complete. Also I recommend getting the special show of the of the planetarium!

I need more time to explore all the exhibits. When I go again I will dedicate an entire day to this museum. Outstanding displays and fun films.
