Guests must provide a car seat for small children or babies on Farmlands Tour. ALL children must have a ticket. Parents may not hold or share a seat with children or babies.

What To Expect

The Amish Experience

The Amish Experience at Plain & Fancy Farm SuperSaver package includes three activities. At this time we ask that you wear a mask to participate in these activities. Amish Farmlands Tour: 90 minute guided Amish farmlands tour using our air-conditioned 14 passenger mini bus. A stop along the way for authentic Amish goods is included. Amish Experience Theater: 35 minute, five-screen, special-effect film called "Jacob's Choice." Follow a young Amish man as he decides whether or not to be Amish, and experience history through flash-backs in the film. Amish House and One-Room School: The Amish Country Homestead is a 45 minute guided walking tour of a replica Amish house and school on site at the Amish Experience.

We got the package to watch the video, have a house tour, farm/bus tour and buggy ride The video had cool effects and was informative about the Amish life The bus tour was VERY informative we had Lyn D. as our tour guide and she was very enthusiastic about the Amish culture and shared so much information with us. We stopped at a farm and briefly talked with an Amish man and saw the animals. We were even lucky enough so see a 2 hour old baby cow that was just born The house tour was informative as well, the information was about the same as we heard on the bus but it was cool to see the inside of how the house would be set up and decorated inside and we learned more about the clothing they wear We were on the cookie run buggy ride and it was a nice experience to ride through the farm area but the tour guide didn't give much information just answered questions if we had them

We were a large group of 16 people (pre-teens to seniors) and had purchased the full package for the tour through the Amish farmland, the school-house, the home, the buggy ride, as well as the film "Jacob's Choice". Our group had the fortune of being led by Art through the Amish Experience tour. Not only was he kind and with a wonderful sense of humor, but he was also incredibly patient when some of our group got lost on the way to meet us, and waited a few extra minutes for them to catch up at the quilt shop. Although we had learned quite a bit about the Amish previously, Art gave us so much new information and interesting background that we had not heard about even from the introductory film on the Amish and the Mennonites. He was also thorough in answering the questions we had, especially the faith-related ones we were particularly curious about, and is obviously very well educated in this subject. I personally worried that the pre-teens in our group would become bored, but they were so taken in by Art's personality and humor that the tour ended long before we wanted it to. Thank you so much, Art, for a wonderful experience!! We will definitely be advertising at our church next year for an even larger group to join us on a fantastic trip, and hope we are fortunate enough to have Art lead us once again! :)

I have been to Amish Experience before (about 5 years ago) when they were running 3-hr bus tours. The longer bus tour (combined with the movie and homestead tour) in my opinion was a much richer way to learn about the Amish and see the beautiful countryside. This time around, we went with the SuperSaver package, which still includes the movie and homestead tour, but the bus tour has been cut in half, into a 90-minute journey. It is still good, and represents a good value for first time visitors, if you want to get a guided tour of the Amish country. The bus tour guide is very knowledgeable, providing insights about the Amish you wouldn't otherwise get if you were to tour the region on your own. The homestead tour guide also is very knowledgeable, and it affords you the chance to see what an Amish home and one-room school house would look like (albeit these are "imitations"). I would still recommend Amish Experience over the other Amish tour operators in the area, as I do think this one is still the best run and most authentic.

Thank you very much for your review! I wanted to let you know that we run our 3 hour Visit-In-Person tour in the evenings, Monday-Saturday, starting at 5:00PM. This tour includes 3 Amish stops; an Amish dairy farm at milking time, a stop at an Amish artisan or business and finally a home visit. It really is a great way to interact with our Amish neighbors in a meaningful way. Thanks again for visiting! We hope to see you again soon.
