Amish Experience Visit-In-Person Tour

Overview
Many visitors to Lancaster seek out meaningful personal contact with the Amish community. Imagine visiting three Amish properties where our longstanding relationships allow you to become their guests during your stay. This exclusive tour is limited to 14 guests, and provides the rare opportunity to meet and talk to various Amish where they live and work. The three stops: Visit an Amish farm at milking time, go behind-the-scenes with an Amish craftsman, and then sit and chat with an Amish family right in their home.

I loved ever part of this experience! I think sitting with the Amish family was the best part because they were so down to earth and so comfortable to be around. They made us feel so welcomed. This tour is much better for adults than children. The children that attended seemed to get bored and ancy by the end of each stop.

I would definitely recommend this tour to anybody that wants a unique, up close and personal experience with the Amish. Joe was our tour guide and driver and he was very informative (and funny). We first visited a merchant who builds carriages and were able to ask him questions and learn about his business. Next we sat with an Amish couple in their home and were able to learn about their family and way of life in an open dialogue. Our last stop was to an Amish farm where we learned about the cow milking process and farm operation. Keep in mind that you should not take pictures of the Amish themselves, but we were allowed take pictures of the merchant’s business and the farm. If in doubt, ask them first. This was a fantastic experience.

Thanks so much for the kind review. Understanding the photo etiquette takes practice, but you mastered it.

If you have time for only one activity while enjoying the Amish culture, make it the "Farmlands Tour" with the Amish Experience. DeAnna, our farmlands tour guide, was a delight. She was informative, professional, patient, knowledgeable, and well-worth our time and money (although you will find the cost very budget friendly). As retired teachers, my wife and I are very appreciative of a well-versed and well-spoken professional. DeAnna did not disappoint. She reflected a genuine love and respect for the Amish. She willingly listened, answered questions, and imparted many uncommon facts about this PA Dutch Community. We always spend a few vacations days per year in this area, and are looking forward to bringing family and friends with us to enjoy the Amish Experience as well.

Thanks so much for giving us a "good grade!" Sorry, couldn't resist a teacher-pun.
