Many visitors to Lancaster seek out meaningful personal contact with the Amish community. Imagine visiting three Amish properties where our longstanding relationships allow you to become their guests during your stay. This exclusive tour is limited to 14 guests, and provides the rare opportunity to meet and talk to various Amish where they live and work. The three stops: Visit an Amish farm at milking time, go behind-the-scenes with an Amish craftsman, and then sit and chat with an Amish family right in their home.

Visited here recently with a small club group. We greatly enjoyed the multimedia Amish Experience presentation, "Jacob's Choice." This is a sophisticated multimedia presentation and it may be good to know in advance that there are some loud noises, water mist sprays, and light flashes that could potentially be startling to some more timid attendees, but that we found highly enjoyable and engaging, and the overall story, very educational about Amish history here and in Europe, as well as current Amish life. The presentation was followed by a visit to the large gift shop, which also houses ample, clean restroom facilities. A large variety of souvenir and local items are available. After the gift shop visit, we enjoyed a terrific presentation by one of the docents, taking place in the adjacent Amish school classroom. More information on Amish education, religion, and daily life were presented in a very enjoyable way, with plenty of time for Q and A, too. Then we walked through the adjacent "typical Amish home" with that docent, learning more about modern and traditional Amish life. All in all, this was a very pleasant and informative experience and we walked away knowing far more about the Amish, both in history and current day to day life, than we did before we arrived. Definitely worth a visit! I believe a farm tour via small bus is also available, though time didn't allow us to do this. There is also an onsite hotel. Parking is free and ample.

...if the non-Amish tour guide wouldn’t have interrupted and talked over the Amish people we visited. This tour is a unique opportunity to visit 3 Amish families and ask them any questions you may have. We talked with children and couples covering topics ranging from the organization of their religion to facets of their daily life to work and school. The only thing I would change is to have the tour guide, DeAnna, not talk while we were trying to talk to the Amish. It was very distracting and not what we paid for.
