Our tour Guide was great. At one point in his life had been a taxi driver for the Amish families so he had personal experience as well as a very good historical information. The families we visited with were delightful. I was given the opportunity to bottle feed a calf. Some of the home allowed us to take pictures of scenery. No pictures of the Amish people are allowed so out of respect I didn't take any. It was delightful to have authentic and genuine conversation and get to see how they live out life everyday. It was so different than how the Amish are represented on TV and in movies.

When visiting the family at their house we were disappointed that we were rushed into the house and out to the back. We expected to see the inside of the home and hear about their traditions, etc.. When we were sitting outside we were asked many questions about our lives. I would ask a question and get a quick answer and then once again we were all asked questions about us. We traveled 5 hours and paid a lot for the tour and we were disappointed. My aunt and uncle were here from Ireland. They had visited the amish country many years ago and were looking forward to seeing it again. They said that sitting outside was a waste of time. This was my son's first time visiting. I was glad that my daughter and my aunt's daughter did not come. We enjoyed Ike the wood craftsman.

Dear June S, We are sorry you were disappointed with the family visit of your tour. We are going to endeavor to determine who the family was that you visited and speak with them. I'm sure they were probably just trying to make conversation. But certainly we will let them know that we and our guests would like them to share more about themselves. It sounds like you enjoyed the milking stop and Ike and his wood crafting. Again we are sorry for your disappointment and we will endeavor to do better in the future.
