We went whale watching from Anacortes and despite the cold and rainy weather we had a blast. The boat was clean and comfortable and there was plenty of viewing room. We got to see members of the j and k resident pods as well as a group of transient orcas. The transients appeared to have caught a seal or something while we were watching. On the way back we found harbor seals fishing and a bald eagle sitting in a tree watching them. The naturalist was very knowledgeable and helpful. The boat had charts to identify the whales and binoculars to borrow.

My husband & I visited Seattle for 2reasons: to see the whales and go to Pike Market. We booked online for our whale watching trip with OIX. Online booking was a breeze. The staff were friendly and helpful. (I had to call them a couple of times for scheduling and ferry times. They gave me good advice on when to catch the ferry at anacortes in time for the whale watching trip and the directions from Seattle since the bridge was still under construction at that time.) We were on a good nice boat with a deck with Capt Joe and Ashley. My husband decided we were going to be on the deck...omg! Nobody told me I'd be freezing my face off up there! I wish the guy at check in gave me a warning...I could've bought one of those OIX sweatshirts that were piled up next to his desk!!! Anyway, Capt Joe okayed for me to move to the cabin downstairs...:)... We went 1 1/2 hrs to get to the whales which was fine since WE were on the whale schedule anyway...we were told the day before the whales were about 5-10 mins away...oh well...Anyway both Capt Joe and Ashley were very knowledgeable and fun at the same time. All in all we had a wonderful time and surely a memorable one!
