Anchorage Aurora Quest - Northern Lights Photo Tour

Overview
This is the longest-running northern lights photo tour in the Anchorage area. Highlighted by Iceland Air's Stopover magazine as one of Anchorage's "Hidden Hot Spots" in its Spring 2019 issue (page 64), this tour is designed to maximize fun and opportunity with the aurora borealis.

We provide a free 3-day forecast service that includes both the aurora borealis and weather forecast. This tour increases your chance of aurora viewing success by allowing you to reserve as many nights as you like [space available] and only finalizing payment 48 hours in advance under the Reserve Now & Pay Later system. We pick you up at your accommodations and take you on a nocturnal adventure to witness the magical lights rippling over snowy peaks and dancing across dark waters. It's a great option for business travelers to Alaska during August to early May. This tour accommodates serious photographers to sightseers. Photographic instruction and aurora portraits are provided for those who desire.

Aurora Quest is the best. We were picked up on time. We traveled north of Fairbanks and the sky was cloudy so we traveled south where the sky was clear and the stars were shining. About 1 am the show began and came on strong for about 30 minutes. After that they would continue to come and go until we left around 3. Our guide, Rene, was knowledgeable and very experienced. He provided snacks and hot beverages and shared his fishing and guide adventures in the wilds of Alaska. Unfortunately pictures from phone cameras do not do the actual view justice.

Hi. Thank you for your kind words, but we do not operate in Fairbanks, nor do we have any guides named Rene. We hope you can find the right company and give them the credit they deserve!

Given the beginning of the Aurora Borealis season the intensity was not that high. We couldn't see it with naked eye, but camera captured rather amazing pictures. As I said in the title of my review - nature is nature - you get what you get. It is not a zoo where the view is pretty much guaranteed. Guide Ben was quite knowledgeable and provided ample of hints to novices like us how to spot the start of glare, what to look for. It definitely helped. Would recommend the tour at least for knowledge if you do not spot Aurora.

We are sorry that the northern lights were not brighter for you, but glad to hear that Ben took good care of you. We certainly want to make the best of the experience, providing information about the northern lights and helping with nighttime photography tips.

Great time, super chilly at night so be sure to wear warm clothes, but Carl and Veronica were quite knowledgeable to have as guides. We loved our photos!
