Anchorage Aurora Quest - Northern Lights Photo Tour

Overview
This is the longest-running northern lights photo tour in the Anchorage area. We pick you up at your Anchorage accommodations and take you on a nocturnal adventure to witness the beauty of the Alaskan night sky. It's a great option for any travelers to Alaska during August to late April. This tour accommodates serious photographers to sightseers.

We conduct a daily update that includes both the aurora borealis and weather forecast. The tour runs based on that forecast, but runs only if the forecast indicates a chance of seeing the aurora. Because both weather and the aurora borealis are natural phenomena, we cannot guarantee seeing the northern lights.

This tour increases your chance of aurora viewing success by allowing you to reserve as many nights as you like [space available] and only finalizing payment 48 hours in advance under the Reserve Now & Pay Later system. If you do not see the northern lights during your tour, you get a free make-up tour.

We were disappointed that the lights were not visible on our tour. The van was quite uncomfortable with very little leg room. Water and snacks were advertised, yet snacks were not provided until around 2 am. The tour guide instructed us to call the office to reschedule or see if another tour might be offered which we did the next day. No response was received to the voice message left on the office phone. All would have been forgiven if a response had been received. A refund has been requested, although I don't hold much hope of receiving a response.

We're sorry to hear that you're disappointed with your aurora chasing experience. We take a data-driven approach to deciding whether or not to run our aurora tour each night, and all of the available forecast information indicated that conditions on the night of your tour would be favorable. However, as with all natural phenomena, there is never a guarantee that the forecast will be 100% accurate, and we cannot control whether or not the lights show up on any given night. As your guide informed you during your tour, we do not offer refunds for tours that run, but we do offer guests on unsuccessful aurora tours a free make up aurora tour to be used at your convenience, pending availability. Our staff also texted you about this option shortly after 10AM the morning following your tour, though we received no response to that text. We also returned your phone call and left a voicemail once again reiterating the option of a free make up aurora tour. Again, we're sorry to hear that you're disappointed with your aurora chasing experience, and we hope you and others can understand that no one can guarantee the behavior of natural phenomena like the northern lights.

Chad and Ben did a great job locating a remote and picturesque spot to view and photograph the aurora. What sets Alaska Photo Treks apart is their "Go/No go" policy and communications. They don't want to waste the time or money of customers if the probability of seeing is low. Anna (office manager) is fabulous and a great communicator. To make sure she reached us she texted and called (when there was an urgent update). We have been on 5 different aurora photo chases and we can highly recommend Alaska Photo Treks. Its a very well run company.

Thank you so much for that feedback. We are very proud of our data-driven process and the good communications of our team members. We want to make sure that people have a good experience, which means given them the best chance of seeing the aurora. I am so glad you enjoyed the entire experience!
