Horseshoe Bend
Next, it's off to Horseshoe Bend. Take an approximate 0.75-mile (1.2-km) hike that brings you to one of the best overlooks. At a point not far downstream from the Glen Canyon Dam, the Colorado River meanders around a rock promontory, creating the horseshoe-shaped loop beloved by visitors and photographers from around the world. As you approach the edge, take in the wonderful view. Please note: You'll hike a total of 2 miles (3.2 km); comfortable walking shoes are strongly recommended.

Glen Canyon Dam Overlook

Antelope Canyon
At Antelope Canyon, follow your Navajo guide through a narrow slit in the earth where youā€™ll see the sculpted sandstone cliff. Sunlight from overhead creates shafts of light that pass into the canyon, making it even more beautiful. Descend ladders into the depths of the canyon to discover more of this serene place, and take photos with help from your guide about using the right settings on your camera for the light and the best angles for taking interesting shots. Antelope Canyon is a photographers dream.

Since we were in the area for a wedding, we decided to take in some of the sights. We booked this tour with the Grand Canyon Adventures Tours, allowing us to enjoy the scenery and get an entertaining narrartion along the way to the sights... hotel pickup. Horseshoe Bend is beautiful. It was over 100 degrees ( july)...bring sunglasses,water... many had umbrellas. It's about a 1.5 mile roundtrip,.. on sand and sand covered boulders...uphill and downhill. It's very manageable if you take your time and rest when needed. It is not handicapped accessible. We are seniors and did fine. There are boat rides thru the canyon on calm waters from a different perspective if walking is not reasonable. We marvelled at its beauty. Antelope Canyon was a whole body expereince as we trekked through this beauty of nature. Cameras were clicking continuously in our group of d by a Navajo tour guide. It was about an hour long...I think I heard that there is a photographer's tour that lasts for 2 hours. Everywhere you look is phenomenal beauty. The guide took pictures of us and sometimes for us. He set the filters on the cameras . We were moved along one footpaths are only a shoe width wide. This tour also is not handicapped accessible. You have to be able to maneuver ladders/ steps. I am afraid of heights but this tour did not bother me. I felt secure on the built-in ladders surrounded by rock. This is a must see if you are exhilerating!

What a fantastic tour !! Our guide Brad, for us the best one we could imaginely get, was sharing his wisdom and his remarkable knowledge about this amazing beautiful area, its nature, its natives and history with deep respect to creation. We learned so much in such an easy way, being guided by him, a passionate geologist and anthropologist, always very sensitive, leaving enough space for serenity to all of us. Also the whole Gran Canyon Adventures team and its devoted service to people is just outstanding. Brad and GCA Team - we'll be back for sure ! And one of the reasons for that is you guys!! The other reason is Lower ANTELOPE CANYON !! Breathtaking, stunning, indiscribeable beauty of nature !! Weā€™ve travelled so many beautiful places - but this one here, is one of the best on this planet ! it left us speechless ! This awesome tour makes definitely a difference to others, as itā€™s done in a professional way - professional on many levels ! Therefor next tour with you againā€¦.. Much love and all the best !!!
