Arches National Park Back Country Adventure from Moab

Overview
The tour will head north on US 191 passing the entrance of Arches National Park which was designated as a National Monument before being changed to a National Park in 1971. Our special use permit allows us to enter the back door to Arches via Willow Springs Road. Along this backcountry route, you'll travel through the new area of the "Utah Raptor State Park". Here where Native Americans lived back in history for thousands of years you'll see dinosaur tracks and enjoy the views of the La Sal Mountains. The Park lies atop an underground salt bed that is responsible for the arches, spires, and sandstone fins. Several of the stops include Eye of the Whale(Backcountry), Balanced Rock(Pavement), Sand Dune Arch(Pavement), Delicate Arche Viewpoint(Pavement), and the Windows Section(Pavement). The trip length is approximately 4 hours duration. All vehicles are Jeep Rubicons which are enclosed and air-conditioned.

Several of my family and one other traveler booked this trip on a Jeep 4x4. This tour was terrific, the tour group organizers made sure we were ready to go at the precise start time, beverages and snacks were provided for us and the Jeep was air-conditioned...thank goodness as the temperature was 107 degrees in the high desert! Our tour guide was superb, friendly, knowledgeable about the park and he provided us with such good and interesting info. We had quite a few stops where we could get out, stretch our legs, walk down to arches and formations that could not be seen from the main park road. The Park is stunning and has such a history that is ever changing. I would do this again if I return to Arches!! Thank you Adrift Adventures folks!!!

We were enjoying the typical Moab tourist experience. Even with inflated ''tourist price' on seemingly everything. So we were surprised and delighted with our Arches National Park Backcountry tour, well worth the money! I don't know if we were lucky, or the other driver/guides are as competent and personable our guide David Swafford. We plan on another different tour, and hopefully we will get David again.
