What To Expect
1
Alyeska Pipeline Viewing Point
We begin our 14-hour long journey to the Arctic Circle with a convenient pick up at any hotel or address inside the city limits of Fairbanks or North Pole. Settle into your seat and relax on the 200 mile (322 km) journey down the back roads of Interior Alaska. We provide free snacks and drinks to ensure your utmost comfort in our climate-controlled vans.   Take a trip back in time as you travel down the Dalton Highway. Featured on the TV show Ice Road Truckers, the Dalton Highway (technically Alaska Route 11) runs north-south through Alaska, nearly all the way to the Arctic Ocean, and parallels the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. It’s one of the most isolated roads in the United States and provides some beautiful Alaskan scenery for you to enjoy during the ride. With sweeping views of mountains and valleys, you will see the Trans-Alaskan Pipeline System (TAPS), one of the largest pipeline systems, transporting thousands of gallons of oil from Prudhoe Bay to Valdez, up close.

Tolovana River
Your driver will pull over at several different spots, including the Tolovana River and Wickersham Dome.
3
James Dalton Highway
Travel the remote Dalton Highway to Mile Post 115 to the Arctic Circle Campground.

Our tour guide was nice and we did see some faint lights, but I'm honestly not sure what the added value of this tour is? You could simply drive up to the Arctic Circle with your own car. This company charges $250 per person, while renting an SUV would cost $60 total and would allow you to stop anywhere you want... It's a no brainer. It's a straight road to the circle (which is just a sign that says "Arctic Circle, there's nothing else to see there) and the road is in pretty good condition. Also keep in mind no one can guarantee you'll see lights, all you have to do is drive somewhere dark, look at the sky and hope you get lucky. Also flagging there was absolutely no precautions regarding COVID19 on this tour: we spent over 10 hours in a car, with no hand sanitizer and no social distancing, and no one was wearing masks. It's probably the highest risk situation you could be in to catch germs.

Sorry about your experience, but this was not with our tour company. See communication with TripAdvisor. One more point, we take maximum precautions regarding the health and safety of our guides and customers. From the sanitizing of the vans and equipment, to the provision of extra hand sanitizer and facemasks, to prescreening of all passengers, to the reduction of allowable capacity, we believe we have covered the bases as much as possible.

We enjoyed this tour so much because it took us 4 hours North of Fairbanks to several parts of Alaska on the way to the Arctic Circle. Our tour guide was Lynley who was amazing and so very friendly, kind, and resourceful! We stopped by to see the TransAlaskan Pipeline, which was fascinating, Finger Mountain, crossed the Yukon River, etc. and got delicious pies, salmon burger and salmon curry soup, etc along the way. There were 8 of us in the van, including Lynley, and everyone were very nice as well. On our way back, it did rain and there were too many clouds in the sky so we were not fortunate enough to see the aurora, which cut our tour short, but Lynley tried her best and stopped serval times to ensure we were getting our best chances. She felt bad that we were out of luck but we also understood and it also worked out as most of us in the van seemed pretty tired from the day (I definitely slept on the way home and would only open my eyes each stop to check the sky for any activity lol). Highly recommend this tour as it’s a trek to get up there and back safely even in September! Can’t wait to visit again during the winter for some snow :) - Marian and Jonel
