Additional Info
  • Specialized infant seats are available
  • Suitable for all physical fitness levels
  • The electric bikes will take all of the hard work out of your ride. We routinely have riders that span the spectrum of age and fitness. The main requirement is that you be coordinated and fit enough to balance a 55-pound bike. A training and practice session is provided at the start of each tour. For people that would like to go on the tour but are not able to balance a bike, it is possible to arrange a ride on the back of one of our stretch cargo bikes that will be driven by another person in your party.
  • Legally, you must be 16 years or older to operate an electric bike. Guides reserve the right to request proof of age of any rider. Riders should also be at least 5 feet tall to operate their own bike. Guests younger than 16 may ride as a passenger with an adult in their group on the back of one of our cargo bikes or in a child seat (for children ages 1-6 or up to 48.5 pounds).
  • Tours are subject to favorable weather conditions. If there is light rain in the forecast but none at the start of the tour, we will decide together at the time of the tour whether to ride. We will provide rain ponchos and rain covers for the storage bags on the bikes to protect your belongings. If canceled due to poor weather, you will be given the option of an alternative date or full refund.
  • Social distancing enforced throughout experience
  • Gear/equipment sanitised between use
  • Guides required to regularly wash hands
  • Contactless payments for gratuities and add-ons

I loved my tour with Elsa today! I’m actually a local, and there was so much I learned about landmarks I’ve passed a million times that I never knew about. And stretches of the greenway I never knew existed! It made me appreciate my town even more. But aside from all the history and recommendations, riding on an electric bike is SO FUN. I’ve never ridden one before and I’m not very athletic. But Elsa made it easy on me, helped me pick out the right helmet and get comfortable on the bike before we left. I would highly recommend this tour to any visitors of Asheville. You are getting the real deal here! And locals, don’t miss an opportunity to learn more about this beautiful city we live in. And have fun doing it!

Torin put together an incredible custom tour for my beer-loving group. He was dedicated and a true professional from start to finish in crafting this tour. It was a fantastic mix of Torin's wealth of general Asheville knowledge and Brent's (from Riverbend Malt House, who Torin brought to the tour) encyclopedic Asheville Beer knowledge. As importantly, they were both really fun to be around and truly engaging. And, beyond that, the bikes...were...awesome. Most of us had never ridden an electric bike before, but Torin had us comfortable on them within minutes. Incredible way to see Asheville and we will certainly be back to visit these guys again!

My husband and I were recently in Asheville with our 11-year-old niece for a day and a half. We reserved a tour with The Flying Bike on our first morning there, hoping that it might provide a nice overview of the town and some ideas for things to do and see. We are SO glad we made this choice! Torin provided us one of the best experiences we could have hoped for. Not only was riding the bikes EXTREMELY fun, but Torin set the scene right from the start, emphasizing the value of connection to others. We all introduced ourselves and shared a bike-riding memory; this made us feel comfortable with the others in our group. Asheville is such a beautiful place and the e-bikes helped us to take on the hills like champs. Torin also led the group in a very safe and professional manner and we were able to easily stay together throughout the tour. He shared a wealth of interesting information and gave personalized tips on things to see and do while visiting with children, which was particularly helpful to us. We toured the roads and the periphery of the city but also went up to the Grove Park Inn, a personal favorite spot of mine. We refilled our water bottles here (The Flying Bike provides clean, insulated bottles pre-filled for your convenience!) and were able to use the restrooms. We also were treated to an amazing view of the city and so many interesting facts about this unique and beautiful old building. As our tour concluded, Torin mentioned some historically sensitive information about a controversial memorial to a member of the Confederacy. He also made a point to highlight the many other people who have contributed to Asheville's history and who are less well-known and publicly recognized, including countless women and immigrants. He provided space for conversation between tour group members in case anyone felt like sharing their feelings about these issues but did not pressure us to do so. Again, the emphasis on "connection" was present and important. After our tour, we visited some of the spots Torin suggested and were delighted by each of them. He even mentioned a young-adult book series (Serafina and the Black Cloak) written by a local author because he thought our niece might enjoy it. We ended up buying it at a local bookstore and took turns reading it aloud on our way back to Massachusetts. We cannot express our gratitude enough to Torin and his wife for this amazing experience. We recommend touring with the Flying Bike when you are next in Asheville!
