In my opinion, this is the best way to learn about and experience the Amish and their way of living. Our guide, Phil was extremely knowledgeable and friendly at the same time. He has a great relationship with many Amish families, which was made evident during our lunch. Sarah served us a homemade (hot) lunch consisting mainly of fresh veggies from her garden and hot homemade bread. Her children were able to join us, which made the experience even better, they were delightful, polite and very engaging. I would highly recommend this experience.

Wow! To go into an Amish family's home and sit down to share a meal with them was such a unique opportunity that I will always treasure. I signed up for this purely to get a glimpse of their authentic life, but I got so much more. During the ride there and back, our driver, Mike, shared lots of interesting facts about the area and the Amish. Sarah, our host (along with her three younger children), sat and ate with us, and was so gracious about answering our questions. And the food was delicious!! And plentiful...you really need to arrive very hungry! After our meal, she played the harmonica and sang for us. Then we got to go into her cellar to see her many shelves of canned goods. We also toured her guest house which can be rented as a B&B. This was an experience I didn't think was possible with such a closed, private community. I'm thankful for the host families that work with this company. It was clear that the tour guides are trusted friends with these families...our time together just exuded good feelings all around. Worth every penny, and I highly recommend this. In fact, I'll be taking this tour again when I return next summer.

Sadie invited us into her home and shared with us a wonderfully tasty meal. While she didn't consider it a chore to have made a plentiful meal for us, believe me that even as someone who enjoys cooking, this lunch felt like Thanksgiving! As much as we appreciated and savored the meal, the visit we had with Sadie was a memory we will always cherish. We made a new friend who was very happy to answer any questions and to share information about Amish life. Sadie is a real gem and the experience was a highlight to our visit to Lancaster.
