Rebecca (and Warren) led such an engaging, knowledgeable historic tour infused with wit and facts that a longtime Philadelphian like me didn't know! The pace of the tour was leisurely and perfect for any ability-level. The marriage between the history of women of color in the time of slavery couples with their firsts in the medical field to the accomplishments within the LGBTQ community was the perfect balance. I would recommend this tour to anyone and, particularly, to people living in Philadelphia!

Iā€™ve done walking tours in various cities and this was one of my favorites. I donā€™t usually take the time any more to write reviews but this tour was review worthy. Aside from going with my badass woman friend from childhood, there were so many new and interesting things I learned today about a city I visit with some frequency and live 30 minutes from. What makes a walking tour interesting is an engaging and knowledgeable guide who is confident in the information they share. I can only imagine after doing the same tour again and again, it becomes more challenging each time to keep it interesting. Joey was passionate and knowledgeable about preserving and sharing a unique perspective of our nationā€™s history. After reading many of the reviews, there is really nothing unique I can contribute. Others have already expressed my sentiments, including inspiring me to move to Philadelphia. Iā€™m looking forward to more Beyond the Bell tours! Thank you Joey!

This tour was one of the top highlights of our family's holiday vacation - we learned so much new and fascinating information that really cast a different light on what you learn in traditional history class about the role that women, women of color and the LGBT community played in the city's history. Rebecca was an amazing tour guide who was clearly both knowledgeable and passionate about the content of the tour. I would highly recommend this tour for families or people who are interested or curious about learning things they don't teach you in school, and we felt very safe doing it during covid as the tour groups are very small (9 max), and they require vaccination and the wearing of masks, even though 95% of the tour is outdoors. We'll be recommending this tour to all of our friends!
