Bay Fishing South Padre Island

Overview

The fishing on the bay is great fishing, Sheepshead, Black Drum, Whiting, and many others, including Red Fish. Bay fishing trips primarily target tasty sand trout and whiting but customers will also have opportunities to catch red drum and black drum. Customers can also bring their own gear if they desire, but Captain Murphy’s will not be responsible for it.

All persons fishing, ages 17 and older are required to have a valid Texas Saltwater Fishing License. You can easily purchase a fishing license online by going to Texas Parks and Wildlife website and Fishing License

Currently, there are no mask mandates or capacity limitations in place. You are welcome to wear a mask, but they are not required. We do make a practice of sanitizing the boat between trips, and our Captain and Crew frequently wash their hands.

The staff on the boat were exceptional. We had a very busy day fishing and they helped everyone. Know in advance to purchase red drum stamps when you get your fishing license as you will have to throw them back if you catch them :( I threw back three. I did catch a small shark that I was able to keep.

We had a wonderful experience fishing in the bay. Captain Murphy and his staff were great in laying out expectations, how to be successful catching various species and what to do with the scary ones (mud eels, sharks, sea catfish, stingrays etc) it was perfect amount of time and we all had a blast. Thanks for having us!
