Bay Fishing South Padre Island

Overview
The fishing on the bay is great fishing, Sheepshead, Black Drum, Whiting, and many others, including Red Fish. Bay fishing trips primarily target tasty sand trout and whiting but customers will also have opportunities to catch red drum and black drum. Customers can also bring their own gear if they desire, but Captain Murphy’s will not be responsible for it.

All persons fishing, ages 17 and older are required to have a valid Texas Saltwater Fishing License. You can easily purchase a fishing license online by going to Texas Parks and Wildlife website and Fishing License

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful morning on board the Hard Bottom Too. It was a beautiful day for fishing. There were only a handful of people on our boat for Bay Fishing. However, the boat beside us was full of deep sea fishers. We spent 4 hours in the bay, and were very well taken care of by Tyler. Tyler was friendly, helpful, and informative. Unfortunately the fish were not interested in what we were offering. A few catfish that were thrown back and a tiny sand trout were all the bounty our 4 hours of investment netted. Nevertheless, it was a nice and relaxing morning. We were disappointed that the boat captain did not introduce himself or talk to any of us at all.

We are glad you enjoyed your trip. I do apologize for the Captin's lack of interaction. He is a relief captain, I do appreciate this being brought to our attention.

It was too crowded. The fishing lines kept crossing because we were placed so close together. The boat captain chose a poor location for last stop and all lines were dragging into each other. The highlight of the trip was seeing dolphins.

I am sorry to hear that your trip did not go as planned. The Captain does move around when the fish are not biting, sometimes the spot just doesn't have a bite.
