Bay Fishing South Padre Island

Overview

The fishing on the bay is great fishing, Sheepshead, Black Drum, Whiting, and many others, including Red Fish. Bay fishing trips primarily target tasty sand trout and whiting but customers will also have opportunities to catch red drum and black drum. Customers can also bring their own gear if they desire, but Captain Murphy’s will not be responsible for it.

All persons fishing, ages 17 and older are required to have a valid Texas Saltwater Fishing License. You can easily purchase a fishing license online by going to Texas Parks and Wildlife website and Fishing License

Currently, there are no mask mandates or capacity limitations in place. You are welcome to wear a mask, but they are not required. We do make a practice of sanitizing the boat between trips, and our Captain and Crew frequently wash their hands.

The best part is seeing the unexpected wild sea life! Captain PJ was great! If you want to catch more fish bring your own fishing gear because you can cast out and have a better chance! PJ was amazing and very insightful. We didn’t catch much but the experience was great and we fished from three different spots in the bay.

The captain & 2nd captain were great & did everything they could to make sure we had fun & tried to help us catch fish BUT the weather definitely wasn’t cooperating! My youngest got to hangout with the captain and truly enjoyed the experience, he even got a shirt from the 2nd captain!!! I’d highly recommend the crew at Captain Murphy’s!!

We didn’t catch many keepers but the experience was excellent. Crew was very attentive and entertaining. Will definitely book this again next month. One thing I didn’t understand…why no bananas? Ha!

We are VERY HAPPY that even though the bite wasn't good you had a fun trip. FYI: The fear of bananas on board has its origins in the 1700s, when the Caribbean trade was in full swing. It was believed that boats carrying bananas had to move quickly to deliver the fruits before they spoiled, leaving little to no time for fishermen to troll for fish.
