Bay Fishing South Padre Island

Overview
The fishing on the bay is great fishing, Sheepshead, Black Drum, Whiting, and many others, including Red Fish. Bay fishing trips primarily target tasty sand trout and whiting but customers will also have opportunities to catch red drum and black drum. Customers can also bring their own gear if they desire, but Captain Murphy’s will not be responsible for it.

All persons fishing, ages 17 and older are required to have a valid Texas Saltwater Fishing License. You can easily purchase a fishing license online by going to Texas Parks and Wildlife website and Fishing License

A 3-4 hr fishing trip??? We left the dock at 6:00pm and back at the dock by 8:30pm. A couple people caught 2 fish and everyone else caught hard heads that were thrown back.

Unfortunately, fishing is very unpredictable. Weather, tides and water temperature can change fishing. Not every trip produces a lot of fish, which may be the reason your trip was cut short. We're so sorry you were disappointed.

Beautiful weather, nice big boat, great rods, friendly and cute deckhands (lol), great old skool rock ‘n roll and recommended if you haven’t experienced being on a boat! With that said- I don’t like fishing with frozen bait although some got fresh dead bait. You’re stuck with their rods with heavy weights which means majority hardhead catfish fishing. There were 2 small hammerheads, stingrays and a couple of sand trout. The current was super strong that day so we didn’t get to fish the deep part of the bay. The downside was that it was shallow fishing and only one or two families walked out with fish worth keeping. Great intro to bay fishing and basically no waves to get sea sick. You can bring your own food and drinks. I wish we could have brought our own rods but with a lot of people, casting would be an issue. The upside is that everyone had a good time with conversation and music and just enjoying the moment! If you want bay fish, go to Pirates Landing Pier for sure!

Staff was absolutely amazing! Took my family ages range from 12-21 and everyone had a blast! My husband and I were super impressed on the crews knowledge and how friendly everyone was.
