We went up to the Spencer Glacier with Chugach Adventures. We did the Lake Tour as that definitely seems to be better than the River Tour. Our guide Matt was awesome and we got more than what we were promised and what we expected. We loved the train ride as well.

It was great to meet you & your family on the Glacier Train. Matt Raney is an amazing guide and great Alaskan. I am not sure if he told you but he is on the new Discovery Channel Show "Homestead Rescue" with his Father & Sister (Marty Raney & Misty Raney) which airs later this month. He is my brother in law and only cameo part-time guides for us, and so we are always super stoked when he joins us. We love getting up close to the glacier on our Spencer Glacier Lake tour as well. Our most popular tour is the Spencer Iceberg & Placer River Float. Again, Thank You for your review. -Ari Stiassny

My husband and I did a 7 day cruise from Vancouver to Seward Alaska including a couple excursions. We stayed in Alaska for a few more days and did other day trips. The Spencer Glacier float was by far the best! Cory and Scott were excellent tour guides and provided lots of information about the area and specifics about Spencer Glacier. The water was low in the river so we explored the lake and glacier instead of going downstream. We got the better end of that deal! Being up close to the glacier was amazing and the size of the icebergs were unbelievable. We just had one other couple in our raft so Cory made sure to personalize the trip based on our interests and questions. We would do this excursion again in a heartbeat!! Chugach Adventures did a fantastic job.

We did this tour as part of our 7 Days/7 Nights Deluxe Alaska Sampler railroad package. We were not sure what to expect, but it turned out to be one of the better activities of the whole trip. The staff were very professional, made sure we were properly outfitted, and provided safety instructions before we got on the raft. They did all the rafting, while we got to sit back and enjoy the ride. We got close enough to touch the glacier and the rest of the river trip was beautiful. It had rained that morning when we left Anchorage, but the afternoon in the Spencer area turned out to be a gorgeous day for rafting, with calm water. We were also given snacks (it was advertised as 'Hearty Alaskan Snack' if that's what jerky, pretzels, water are - would be nice if they included nuts as a healthy alternative for vegans). We got picked up by the train when we were done. Definitely recommend for the experience and wonderful scenery.
