What To Expect

Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center

Take a brief shuttle to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center for a guided & interpretive tour of the animals. The center is Alaska’s premier rehabilitation facility for injured and orphaned wildlife. AWCC Tour runs 1.5 hours and includes walking and driving options to view the animals. A sack lunch is provided with this tour.

This was an absolutely fabulous tour. Every moment of the day was choreographed and planned to a T. The train staff were so friendly as were the Chuggach Adventures staff. Safety was taken very seriously and you never once felt like your safety was at risk. This tour is perfect for the traveler who wants to experience a little outdoor adventure but may feel a little unsure about outdoor physical activity. The raft guides were phenomenal at helping people onto and out of the rafts as well as making sure everyone was safely wearing life vests. Be sure to double up on socks and bring extra socks to change into at the end of the day. Your feet will be cold! Our end of day shuttle had some mix ups and we were late getting back but it absolutely did not ruin our trip at all. We had a great adventure!

What a great way to spend the day! We booked a rafting trip with a visit to the Wildlife Preserve. The wildlife portion was interesting but certainly not exciting. When we got to the river.....wow! Our guide Becca is a "little lady" who surprises you with her strength and abilities. She did an amazing job moving us through the glacial lake as she rowed against the wind, around floating ice and large ice formations. The trip down the river was at times exciting and then peaceful. A huge thank you to Chugach Adventures and Becca for a wonderful and memorable adventure! I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a day excursion from Anchorage/Girdwood area.

The trip was terrific from start to finish. The commentary from the tour guide and the bus driver were especially helpful to learning more about our day. The tour guides made the day!
