Beginner Group Surf Lesson

Overview

Goofy Foot was established in Lahaina, Maui in April, 1994 by the Owner/Instructor Tim Sherer to perpetuate his relationship with Mother Ocean and to teach the ancient Hawaiian sport of surfing. We are dedicated to providing professional surfing lessons to all levels of aspiring students in the spirit of fun and learning. We are committed to facilitating the highest level of experience for our guests with a focus on teaching safety, ocean awareness and surfing fundamentals. Students are guaranteed to standup and ride at least one wave, and even more are given a smart approach to learning to surf that is based on technique and fundamentals that they can use to accelerate learning on their own.

My husband and I decided to finally learn how to surf in our 30s and we had a blast doing so with our amazing instructor Fabio. We were exhausted by the end of the lesson but it was completely worth it and we wished we lived in Maui so we could continue learning at this school.

Goofy Foot was wonderful for getting us all total beginners to safely enjoy our first surfing experiences. Everyone was super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Highly highly recommend instructor Phillipe - he gave clear and helpful instructions, knew exactly what he was doing to best navigate the somewhat busy surfing beach, and took extra care and attention to help our kiddos out to make sure they got the most successful and fun surfing runs. Everyone stood up (for a family that bet beforehand only 2 of the 4 of us were likely to achieve that, it was remarkable). Don’t hesitate to book lessons, even if you’re unsure about your athleticism or balancing skills. And ask for Phillipe!

Amazing! My 18 year old took a lesson with Tim who was "A nice, chill guy who helped me get it right away." For an 18 year old boy speaking to his mama, that's a lot of words! Beth made the booking process easy. She made the suggestion for a pineapplw whip after the lesson and this is a must! No need to go elsewhere, highly recommend Goofy Foot for a great experience!
