Beneath The Streets Underground History Tour

Overview
Go underground on a 1-hour walking history tour through Seattle's original neighborhood. Our experienced guides lead small groups through, and beneath, Pioneer Square to the street level that existed in the 1890s. Explore underground pathways that were built more than 120 years ago, learning details on early Seattle history, why these spaces were built, and how they have been used (and misused) over the years. Marvel at how this once Indian encampment has since transformed into one of the 20 largest cities in the United States.

Our tour guides participate in workshops on cultural traditions and history with special guest historians and Native Tribal members as continual professional development.

This was an excellent experience! What was most important to us was the history our excellent tour guide provided. He has a passion for his job and made the tour very enjoyable and informative and tied the whole thing together so we understood and can share ou r new-found knowledge!

We had a fantastic time on our tour with our guide, Jim. We learned a lot about Seattle and it's history with some great humour thrown in too. The tour was informative and delivered in a personable and inclusive way. I'm always a little wary of going on tours as I hate to feel that you're just being talked at. This was not at all the case here and Jim was a great people reader, encouraging the more adventurous members of the group to explore, whilst others remained to learn more and ask questions. We loved hearing about the origins of Seattle itself and how this was linked in with the core tour material, leading right up to the modern day. We would definitely recommend the tour if you're in Seattle.
