My daughter and I chose this tour simply because it seemed like a good one to kill time while my son & husband went ziplining. What an amazing way to spend our morning. I'd never seen the show Deadliest Catch, so I didn't really know about it except from watching the short clip video on our cruise site. We did book directly through the website (not the tour desk) which saved us about $50 per person.
The crew were engaging, interesting, delightful, informative and willing to answer any and all questions. We learned about fishing on the Bering Sea, about their lives on the boat, about different types of crab and prawns, and even watched as they pulled up different crab pots. We were even able to hold some of the things they pulled up! A highlight of the trip was the number of bald eagles we saw! They crew feed the eagles right from the boat, so we had about 50 - 60 (maybe more) circling around us, swooping down to eat, and then back to their nests. It was spectacular! You can't go wrong by spending the day in Ketchikan with the crew of the Aleutian Ballad!
