To receive your Alcatraz Island Ticket you must check into the Big Bus office (on voucher) one day prior to the Alcatraz Tour date or before 9am on the date of your Alcatraz Tour.

We bought this combo thinking it would be great to do both together. We emailed for our ticket times to Alcatraz 10 days in advanced like the information said. We were given times of 3:20 in the afternoon. The tour is at least 2 hours long. The hop on hop off bus stops at 5pm with the last run. I emailed to change times and was told no. We went to ticket departure point on the day before to get our tickets. We asked again about the times. We were told they only have late afternoon tickets to Alcatraz. You can not change. This information needs to be in the description! LATE AFTERNOON TOURS ONLY. We did hop on hop off bus but no time for Alcatraz tour and no money back. Would not recommend the combo.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We do not guarantee specific departure times and you are not able to pick your own time. We are sorry that you were not happy with your assigned time. We would have suggested to take the bus tour during the day and enjoyed the San Francisco sights, and ended your day at Alcatraz. We are assigned tour times by Alcatraz as a third party reseller and our schedule varies depending on the day. Alcatraz does have return ferry departures back to San Francisco until 6:30pm at night, this gives you plenty of time for you to take the Alcatraz tour and spend extra time on the island to explore at your own leisure.

We enjoyed getting to ride the bus over the Golden Gate Bridge but our driver yelled at two different families in the first half hour of the trip. The earphones I got only had one working ear and the first seat we sat in had a broken earphone jack. Later in the day when we hopped back on the bus to get back to Union Square. It became VERY clear that driver wanted to be done for the day. He drove way too fast through the narrow crowded streets of San Francisco.

Ok. The route only goes in one direction so you have to keep going on the same route to get to your stop of choice if you’re doing just the one day it’s fine but we wanted to go to some specific stops on our second day and we wasted half the day getting to our chosen stops The night time tour goes too early so it’s still light. Alcatraz. Disappointing run down and dirty with only 1 toilet and a few dirty portaloos
