To receive your Alcatraz Island Ticket you must check into the Big Bus Visitor Center one day prior to the Alcatraz Tour date, or before 9am on the date of your Alcatraz Tour.

Please note that the date you have selected is the date for your Alcatraz Tour.
Your tour time will be assigned 5 days in advance of the tour date. Once a time is assigned we are not able to make any changes, please note your timed entry will be allocated by Alcatraz this will not be able to be personally selected
Hop-on Hop-off tour ticket is valid during operating hours for 48 hours after first use.

Only were able to tour Alcatraz and do the Big Bus loop because Alcraz tickets issued did not give us time for Sausalito or Chinatown tours. Also the instructions say to go the evening before the Alcatraz tour date. We were told to stop by the next morning because our tickets weren't there. We did enjoy the bb tour. We had a live guide, and Alcatraz though.

The bus tour was such a disappointment. There was suppose to be a live guide through the tour. We were given ear phones, but no one ever spoke a word. We were never told what we were seeing or what stops we were making. You can hop on and off, but no one makes an announcement on where you are when you stop. Basically it was like riding a city bus around. It was basically a long boring bus ride, We felt like it was a complete waste of time and money.

Not all buses are equipped with a live guide, generally every other departing bus will contain a live guide. The free BIG BUS app, is available to download and it contains real time tracking for all loops, including transfer points. The app will also indicate which buses contain live guides versus the pre-recorded commentary in 10 languages. The recorded audio announces every approaching Stop including what is at/or around the Stop.

We did Alcatraz on the Wednesday, thankfully. When we did the Big Bus tour we waited far too long to get space on a bus at stop 7, just round from our hotel. It was the 6th bus before we got on and then stood until stop 10 before we could get a seat thus unable to have the pre-recorded tour guidance. Got off at stop 12 so as to take the Sausalito tour and had to get the ferry back due to issues with the bus. A total waste of money and I would not recommend it.

Thanks for your review. During a busy summer season wait times can vary - it also depends the number of people using the bus service during peak times; a major holiday weekend, etc, can also be attributed factors.
