To receive your Alcatraz Island Ticket you must check into the Big Bus Visitor Center one day prior to the Alcatraz Tour date, or before 9am on the date of your Alcatraz Tour.

Your tour time will be assigned 5 days in advance of the tour date. Once a time is assigned we are not able to make any changes, please note your timed entry will be allocated by Alcatraz this will not be able to be personally selected
Hop-on Hop-off tour ticket is valid during operating hours for 48 hours after first use.

I would not recommend this combo tour! We basically spent $150 each to see Alcatraz! They don't time your tour where you can do the Sausalito tour and you have very little time for the bus tour. Also the bus tour is not like most of the hop on hop off I have done in other cities. They take you near the sights not by. With a city being so expensive we had to uber, taxi or ride the city bus to see the sights. Very unhappy when you only have two days in the city plus extra cost! We didn't get to do the whole loop of the hop on tour because they were having the Gay Pride parade that lasted all day! It took one hour to get to our first stop. We basically rode the bus to cross the golden gate bridge. Our bus driver was very frustrated and a little short with everyone. He was trying to get everyone to get off before the tour ended. Wish I could get refund!!! People at the bus office were like so sorry you are unhappy but it is out of our hands! They should have canceled tours for that day! They should book your Alcatraz for the afternoon so you can do the sausalito in the morning. Can you tell I'm upset?

Thank you for your review, BIG BUS operates 365 days a year, regardless of city wide activities, fairs, festivals, and events. We do our best to maneuver around and detour affected stops alerting guests ahead of time with posted sings in our offices; signs on our buses; via our website - located in the service information section; and on our BIG BUS app. With the Alcatraz Combo you have the option of when to take the bus portion, as the Alcatraz departure time is the only portion of the combo that is assigned. We do allow guest to complete this package on separate days - I'm terribly sorry if this was misunderstood.

Great trip round SF on open top bus (though cold, bring jacket even if sunny) especially as we were only there 2 days so got to see all the sights, go over Golden Gate Bridge etc. Our guide Donal was very funny and we loved his jokes rather than a great stream of facts. Buses themselves were a bit shambolic, we had to wait ages in a cold parking area for the Sausalito bus, which then broke down on the way back. Alcatraz trip a must see, especially for my teenagers. Overall a great 2 day event.

We love an open bus tour to get the feel of a new place. We did the Alcatraz trip and thoroughly enjoyed that. The audio tour is an absolute must. Perfectly paced and interesting. We stopped for lunch after Alcatraz but unfortunately that meant we did not have time to do the Saucalito tour as well. A timing guide of the most popular options would have been helpful. We continued with the tour however and thanks to Donald we laughed all the way around the city. The drive over the Golden Gate Bridge and back was hilarious in the wind. On reflection this is quite an expensive trip but we really enjoyed the day.
