I really enjoyed my time at the Bishop Museum, and my boyfriend and I chose to become patrons. The amount of history and culture related to Hawaii was super informative and everyone was extremely helpful. I am looking forward to visiting again next year when we return to Hawaii. It's a lot of information to take in - so if you can, reserve an entire (or multiple days) to enjoy!

The museum gives a very good history of the Hawaiian islands and the culture on the first two floors. I was most interested in the more recent history from the time the missionaries arrived to how the islands became a state and a tourist attraction. You get an online map of the museum, but I found it difficult to read, and the two folks at the desk didn’t divulge any hints about the layout of the grounds when I asked. After covering the bottom two floors, I found what I was most interested in on the top floor.

Great museum with so much history and cultural information. I have been going to Hawaii for 40 years and this really helped me understand so many elements of this incredible paradise.
