Overview

Discover the natural sights and scenery surrounding the Blue Ridge Parkway in Great Smoky Mountain National Park in an active way on a hiking tour with transport through the mountains from Asheville. You'll drive through some beautiful mountain scenery on the way visit three waterfalls and two protected forests . IMPORTANT Before booking this tour please know that we will be walking approximately 3 miles on the hiking portion of this tour over 2 hours at pace of about 1 1/2 miles per hour, including stops at the falls and you should feel comfortable walking this distance before making a booking. Snacks, drinks, and hotel pickup and drop-off by small-group vehicle (all window seats) are included. Tour is limited to seven people for a more personalized experience. Alternate tour routes are taken when the Blue Ridge Parkway is closed.

What To Expect

Blue Ridge Parkway

Your tour begins with pickup from your Asheville area hotel or accommodation by an air-conditioned van, which has all captains chairs for the drive to and along the Blue Ridge Parkway when open, which is also Great Smoky Mountain National Park an American treasure well known for its scenic beauty and remarkable mountain views. Sit back , relax and enjoy this stunning drive to our first waterfall in Pisgah National Forest before traveling a short distance to visit two more falls in a beautiful state forest. Along the way you'll listen to interesting stories about the rich history of the area that has been attracting people to the area for generations from your local Asheville guide. Wear comfortable shoes or hiking boots for the easy to moderate hiking portion of the tour. You should feel comfortable walking approximately 3.5 miles at one time during the hiking portion of the tour with stops along the way that will allow you time to enjoy falls, a snack and drink that is provided. Bring a small day pack if you have one. Safety is always a priority! After hiking, your tour concludes with transport back to your hotel, leaving you the rest of the afternoon to enjoy at your leisure.

Friends and I were visiting Asheville and I had been reading about the beautiful waterfalls and mountains and self guided tours you could take along the Blue Ridge Parkway. But that meant whoever was driving would miss a lot so I contacted our hotel concerige and they recommended Tumblestone Tours. I spoke with the owner Keith and booked a tour. Keith was prompt and an excellent guide. He took us to three waterfalls and to a fabulous restaurant on top of Mt Pisgah with awesome views. I would highly recommend Keith and Tumblestone Tours. You won't be disappointed.

We were with a small group of five. Keith was very accommodating and prompt when picking us up at our hotel. The van was clean and had plenty of room. He provided a question and answer forum while giving us a history lesson on the parkway. The hikes to the waterfalls were easy and not strenuous. He provided some snacks and beverages, he even carried some extras for us because we forgot a back pack. I would highly recommend!

What a great way to see fabulous views and enjoy a beautiful fall hike. We were picked up at our hotel and transported in a comfortable van with a nice group of outdoor enthusiasts. The hike was at a nice moderate pace and we were able to relax and enjoy nice conversation knowing our guide knew exactly where to take us. Our guide was engaging knowledgeable and made every effort to make sure we were all accounted for and safe. Our stops were all beautiful as were the waterfalls and the drive itself.
