Overview

Discover the natural sights and scenery surrounding the Blue Ridge Parkway in Great Smoky Mountain National Park in an active way on a hiking tour with transport through the mountains from Asheville. You'll drive through some beautiful mountain scenery on the way visit three waterfalls and two protected forests . IMPORTANT Before booking this tour please know that we will be walking approximately 3 miles on the hiking portion of this tour over 2 hours at pace of about 1 1/2 miles per hour, including stops at the falls and you should feel comfortable walking this distance before making a booking. Snacks, drinks, and hotel pickup and drop-off by small-group vehicle (all window seats) are included. Tour is limited to seven people for a more personalized experience. Alternate tour routes are taken when the Blue Ridge Parkway is closed.

What To Expect

Blue Ridge Parkway

Your tour begins with pickup from your Asheville area hotel or accommodation by an air-conditioned van, which has all captains chairs for the drive to and along the Blue Ridge Parkway when open, which is also Great Smoky Mountain National Park an American treasure well known for its scenic beauty and remarkable mountain views. Sit back , relax and enjoy this stunning drive to our first waterfall in Pisgah National Forest before traveling a short distance to visit two more falls in a beautiful state forest. Along the way you'll listen to interesting stories about the rich history of the area that has been attracting people to the area for generations from your local Asheville guide. Wear comfortable shoes or hiking boots for the easy to moderate hiking portion of the tour. You should feel comfortable walking approximately 3.5 miles at one time during the hiking portion of the tour with stops along the way that will allow you time to enjoy falls, a snack and drink that is provided. Bring a small day pack if you have one. Safety is always a priority! After hiking, your tour concludes with transport back to your hotel, leaving you the rest of the afternoon to enjoy at your leisure.

My wife and I signed up for Tumblestone Tours in mid October just as the leaves were beginning to turn. Keith was a wonderful guide and we thoroughly enjoyed the tour. We saw waterfalls, one requiring a short hike, and rode on the Blue Ridge Parkway at a higher elevations. All the while, Keith generously shared his knowledge about the history of the area and his understanding of the ecosystem. Plus, it was far easier having Keith driving us around, than us trying to figure it out ourselves. The weather was spectacular and the sun accentuated the leaves changing colors. We enjoyed looking at our pictures the next day. Keith is so well prepared and has snacks and water for his guests.We would highly recommend.

Blue Ridge Waterfall Hiking Tour brought us through some wonderful scenery and magnificent waterfalls. Walking is well paced - but, does include mostly ups and downs. Keith provided comprehensive info on multiple plants and trees. Transportation was timely and comfortable.

Keith was an excellent guide who clearly loves what he does! We had a relaxing ride through beautiful fall foliage, hiking a nice pace and distance to waterfall then 2 more sops at other watefalls. We learned about the Vanderbilt's aquisiition of land and forestry history as well as the building of the Blue Ridge parkway, Keit wqsattetive oatient and responsible and we felt safe in his care.HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
