Overview

Discover the natural sights and scenery surrounding the Blue Ridge Parkway in Great Smoky Mountain National Park in an active way on a hiking tour with transport through the mountains from Asheville. You'll drive through some beautiful mountain scenery on the way visit three waterfalls and two protected forests . IMPORTANT Before booking this tour please know that we will be walking approximately 3 miles on the hiking portion of this tour over 2 hours at pace of about 1 1/2 miles per hour, including stops at the falls and you should feel comfortable walking this distance before making a booking. Snacks, drinks, and hotel pickup and drop-off by small-group vehicle (all window seats) are included. Tour is limited to seven people for a more personalized experience. Alternate tour routes are taken when the Blue Ridge Parkway is closed.
Departure between 8:00 am and 8:20 am at your area hotel within 3 miles of City Center. An exact time will be provided by test the day before your tour

What To Expect

Blue Ridge Parkway

Your tour begins with pickup from your Asheville area hotel or accommodation by an air-conditioned van, which has all captains chairs for the drive to and along the Blue Ridge Parkway when open, which is also Great Smoky Mountain National Park an American treasure well known for its scenic beauty and remarkable mountain views. Sit back , relax and enjoy this stunning drive to our first waterfall in Pisgah National Forest before traveling a short distance to visit two more falls in a beautiful state forest. Along the way you'll listen to interesting stories about the rich history of the area that has been attracting people to the area for generations from your local Asheville guide. Wear comfortable shoes or hiking boots for the easy to moderate hiking portion of the tour. You should feel comfortable walking approximately 3.5 miles at one time during the hiking portion of the tour with stops along the way that will allow you time to enjoy falls, a snack and drink that is provided. Bring a small day pack if you have one. Safety is always a priority! After hiking, your tour concludes with transport back to your hotel, leaving you the rest of the afternoon to enjoy at your leisure.

This was an excellent half day spent just outside of Asheville! Keith’s communication prior to our tour day was great. He picked us up from our Air BnB near downtown on time. The van was clean and comfortable. Keith provided a variety of snacks and beverages, and even had extra jackets and ponchos if needed. He was very knowledge about the history of blue ridge, as well as the plant and animal life. Overall, it was a pleasure meeting Keith and we had a wonderful time! ...He’s a good photographer too!

Keith is extremely knowledgeable about the entire area and we really enjoyed the information he shared. He has a great sense of humor and is very interested in making sure hike participants are comfortable and happy. This was a fantastic way to start our Asheville trip. Very highly recommend- worth every penny!!

Keith is an awesome guide. He knows just about everything about the Blue Ridge Parkway, and it’s obvious he’s very devoted to the area. I expect that over the years he has refined the tour to what it is today, which is a really well-balanced blend of information, friendly banter, well-timed stops, a good but not exhausting hike, and a pace that is neither too fast or too slow. I highly recommend this tour. There is no way anyone could see as much in 4-5 hours on their own as with this guide. Plus with someone else driving you really get to sit back and enjoy the views.
