We did the Boone plantation tour. Our driver was great giving us some history on the way. The plantation was beautiful and the tours there were very well done. We had a wonderful afternoon!

The history behind this plantation is so sad, the stories need to be told now and for future generations. Each of the slave quarters tells a different story of the slave lives on the plantation. the guided tour is great as well as you get to go into the large house, but if you want to do a self guided tour, each slave house has audio and visual aids. the Oak lined entrance to the plantation will take your breath away.

As you approach Boone Hall, you drive down the famous and impressive avenue of overhanging oak trees that were planted in the 1700's. A half hour presentation on Gullah culture, the unique culture and language developed by slaves on the coastal islands of the Carolinas, is told by an African-American storyteller. The mansion, slave cabins and gardens all tell the story of plantation life. A great place to visit.
