Major attractions like monorail, children's zoo, butterfly garden & others were closed, for that the ticket price should have been reduced to half the original. Also, the park is huge. Tour buggy/shuttle service should have been available, at least for the kids & elderly. If there were any, I didn't find them.

My experience at the zoo started off absolutely horrible We were told we to wait in line to get tickets waited in line 45 minutes They would not let me use my debit card Then I go online One of the workers for helping me get tickets for that day they my stuff they must stop and they purchase them for a separate day so I hit by more tickets than I get into the zoo while over an hour later and everyone was so rude worst experience I have ever had I would never go back

I have never felt so unwelcome at any public entertainment facility in my life as a disabled individual. Do not even attempt it if you don't already have a motorized cart of your own and at least one able-bodied person to help. We came by tour bus, which had to park as far as possible from the gate with no option to let those of us with disabilities get off nearer the gate. I had to push my husband in our wheelchair about 200 yards across an active parking lot dodging incoming cars. Then we couldn't find the kiosk to rent electric vehicles and no one at the zoo would help us. Not my job was the attitude. When we did finally find it, we were told that we could not leave our manual wheelchair there and I could not get back into the zoo if I left to take it back to the bus. When I asked what we were supposed to do, the nasty woman at the kiosk said she didn't care what we did. Even after asking to see a supervisor, the best they could offer was that we could hide the wheelchair in a nearby weedy area and hope it wouldn't get stolen. Although the website says that the shuttle and monorail are handicapped accessible, we couldn't ride the shuttle because we could not leave the motorized carts at the loading areas and the ECV's rented by the zoo itself were too big and heavy to go onto either the shuttle or the monorail. The buildings are all supposed to be accessible, but most are not. The ECV's rented by the zoo don't fit through most of the doors and the heavy glass and metal doors can't be opened by anyone who does not have upper body strength. We had to wait at most doors for a kind zoo patron to open the door and hold it for us. Some zoo staff would do it, but many said they were not allowed to open doors for us or help us in any way. There were no paper maps. Guests were expected to have and be readily able to operate a smart phone and download an ap to see a map. Since we don't have good eyesight or manual dexterity, we had no access to maps. The few painted maps were hard to find and the signs pointing directions were hard to decipher, just pictures, letters and arrows with no words. We had a miserable time and wasted a lot of time and money. Disabled people should stay away! You are not welcome at Bronx Zoo!
