Overview

Enjoy the beauty and excitement of Browns Canyon National Monument on a half day whitewater rafting tour down the Arkansas River. Your guide will go over safety procedures, paddling techniques and tell you about the area’s unique history, flora and fauna. This tour departs directly from the River Runners Browns Canyon outpost, a riverside property just south of Buena Vista, Colorado. Transportation is provided from the take-out at Hecla Junction back to River Runners. All gear is included in the price of the trip. Choose from 10 am and 2 pm departure times (check-in is 45 minutes prior).

Such a FUN time!!!! Andy was so great - both his personality and knowledge. We felt very safe with him, even though we may have only questioned him a time or two haha. Everything about our trip was easy and smooth from start to finish! Highly recommend and can’t wait to do a full day next time!

Kai was an excellent guide for our rafting trip. I was nervous about falling out of the boat but the lead guide Megan (a world championship gold medal winning rafter) gave us a thorough safety briefing which put me at ease about the trip. Then Kai took over as the guide for our six-member family group. We smoothly navigated the rapids and he shared a lot of interesting information about the local geography, birds and history of the area. Kai is a lifelong resident of Salida and also gave us good tips for restaurants, FIBark and a sports bar. The gear provided for our trip was also very high quality and the beach made it easy to get into the boat. A photographer took excellent photos of us at one of the rapids. The bus driver who took us back to the start was also very good. After our rafting trip we had lunch at the onsite grill. The Banh Mi sandwich was especially good. My mom liked the fish tacos. All in all, the rafting trip was a great experience and a high light of our Salida vacation.
