Had a fantastic time earlier this week with Peacock as our guide.
I had another rafting trip planned with a different company, but they had to cancel on me at the last minute. I was searching for some way to fill up all my lost time, and the awesome folks at New Wave Adventures managed to accommodate my party at the very last minute (literally a few minutes before the start time).
The price for the experience was a phenomenal value start time was 2pm and we did not complete until nearly 6pm. I would have gladly payed twice what they asked and still felt that it was great value for the experience.
As for the difficulty, for being in a section of town I would generally classify as "touristy" the waves were not some gentle waves masquerading as a white water adventure. I did not inquire about the exact classification of the rapids, but I would wager it was around a class 3 or so. I have quite some experience white water rafting (though admittedly it has been a few years.) and some of the others on our raft had extensive experience. However my partner who came along with me had never even been out on a raft before. The awesome instruction and leadership from the guide, Peacock, made it feel like everyone in the raft was on an equal experience level and we worked together great as a team.
During the calmer parts of the river, we were given a fantastic explanation of the various Alaska foliage and fauna we passed, as well as interesting and insightful history of that particular area of Alaska. Even if rafting is not your favorite activity, I would argue that the fantastic views from down on the river and amazing commentary would make the whole experience worth it.
10/10 Experience.
Thank you Peacock and others at New Wave Adventure.
