What To Expect

Canyonlands National Park

After making your own way to the meeting point in central Moab, your guide takes you by 4WD vehicle about 30 miles (48 km) to reach the Island in the Sky section of Canyonlands National Park.

Utah Scenic Byway 279 Rock Art Sites

In an area filled with challenging mountain passes, technical terrain and plenty of level 2, 3 and 4 hikes, the Rock Art Sites of Moab offer travelers easy access to ancient drawings scattered along paths even a novice can navigate.

Dead Horse Point State Park

Your guide takes the White Rim Road, which gives you awe-inspiring views of the Colorado River below on one side and the cliffs of Dead Horse Point rising on the other side, framed by the blue desert sky.

White Rim Road

This rugged portion of the 25-mile (40-km) White Rim Road loop offers incredible views around every bend. Explore more of this amazing landscape on several short optional hikes just beneath the White Rim Sandstone level. Follow your guide on moderately challenging hikes to caves, caverns and breathtaking viewpoints over the mighty Colorado River. Or simply relax near the vehicle and soak up the views.

Lathrop Canyon

You also visit park treasures such as Gooseneck overlook, Lathrop Canyon, Musselman Arch and the famous Shafer Trail, which follows a series of switchbacks down to the Colorado River corridor.

Moab

Your full-day tour includes a stop for a delicious buffet-style picnic lunch accompanied by cold water and lemonade. At the end of an unforgettable day, your guide returns you to Moab to end your tour.

Green River

Below the Island in the Sky mesa sits the White Rim formation, an expansive rock terrace located about 1,000 feet (300 meters) above the Colorado and Green Rivers and the same impressive distance below the mesa. In this rock wilderness, big horn sheep traverse rocky ledges sprinkled with piñon and juniper forest

Actually did 2 full day trips (Canyonlands Needle Dist. was 1st day) and had Buzz both days as guide. The country is breathtaking all throughout both districts of Canyonlands and Buzz was extremely knowledgeable about the rocks all around us and the plants and even the bacteria that helped create life. His technical skills in driving on the Needles' "roads" (his word, not mine for sure lol) was unbelievable. Pulling in the rig's mirrors just to squeeze through passages in the boulders (sometimes having to drive backwards) was impressive to say the least. Lots of great stories to remember as well. Ask about the Hole in the wall. Highly recommend.

Navtec Expeditions full day tour of Canyonlands White Rim Trail was exceptional! We learned a lot about botany, geology, pictographs and canyons from our guide Blaine as well as experiencing many thrilling views and rock crawling. This was a really fun and wonderful day.We were paired with a very compatible couple who was vaccinated and just as concerned about Covid as we were,and we all wore masks the whole time FYI. I would pick Navtec again if given the opportunity.

Our guide was full of knowledge which made for an interesting day. We enjoyed the scenery and learning about the area. Those considering this full day tour should know that the ride is very bumpy and may be too much for those that have a fear of heights, sharp drop offs, and quick turns. Yes- the ‘white rim’ tour may induce ‘white knuckles’ at times:-). Designated stops along the way provided welcomed breaks to take short hikes and unique photos. We must admit, we were extremely disappointed when we found out that there would be five people in the vehicle counting the driver when we were picked up for the tour. We were under the impression from phone conversations during booking that there would be a maximum of three passengers. Three adult passengers in the back seat made it difficult at times to see some of the sites the driver was pointing out while riding. It all depended on where you were seated and the direction of travel. Even though we enjoyed the other couple we toured with immensely, it was quite tight with three in the back bouncing around. The lack of leg room didn’t help with stabilizing oneself either. We felt the tour was overpriced when you take the number of passengers into consideration.
