Sunset Cultural Center
This is the meeting place for Carmel Food Tours. Look for the tall, Gothic-style arch and huge windows. It looks a little like a church, but it's not. When you descend into the courtyard, which is located EXACTLY at the intersection of 9th & San Carlos, you'll be greeted by your tour guide.

If you step foot in Carmel, you must book a Carmel Food Tour! You’ll experience a fantastic time at excellent restaurants, eating delicious food...paired with wine, visiting cute little shops and learning fun and interesting information about Carmel (even if you think you know Carmel). The company is made up of a fantastic group of women so whoever you get as a tour guide, you’ll enjoy. Spend your day walking the quaint streets of Carmel-by-the-Sea and walk away with new friends and a lot of fun memories.

We scheduled the Monday at 11:00 a.m. tour with Bonnie. Highs: --Honey Carmel Company. Learned about and tasted different varietals of honey --Trio. Tasted different olive oils and vinegars --Took a few fun secret passageways --Grasings saved the tour. Food was delicious. Lows: --Wished we would have had more variety of foods--3/5 foods were fried. --Bonnie pushed the restaurant where she worked more than the others (in fact, we had to ask the name of the first restaurant--Grasings) --Our third stop had forgotten that we were coming, hurriedly put a "Mexican eggroll" on our plates and seemed irritated that we were there Overall, I did enjoy most of the tour, but our third stop almost ruined it. Perhaps, confirming with the restaurants beforehand would have prevented such a disappointing stop.

Dear WSWSK, This is obviously not the guest experience we strive to provide, and we are very sorry to hear that the tour did not meet your expectations. We appreciate you bringing these issues to our attention, and would be grateful for the opportunity to leave you with a better impression the next time you visit.

Amber, our tour guide, did a great job of taking us around Carmel and introducing us to some great restaurants, and wines. She also showed us some "secret passageways " you can miss as you walk around the town. The tour is fun and you get to meet people from different places to share in the experience.
