Sunset Cultural Center
This is the meeting place for Carmel Food Tours. Look for the tall, Gothic-style arch and huge windows. It looks a little like a church, but it's not. When you descend into the courtyard, which is located EXACTLY at the intersection of 9th & San Carlos, you'll be greeted by your tour guide.

We loved the concept of a [walking] food tour thereby exploring not just the popular eateries but also the hidden gems and pathways of the city. Our tour guide Amber was really knowledgeable and showed us some really beautiful hidden pathways of the Carmel downtown. We covered 7 eateries, including honey and olive oil tasting. We were celebrating my husband's birthday in Carmel and this tour was a surprise for him, and he absolutely loved it !!! We highly recommend the tour to anyone visiting Carmel.

I attended the Carmel Food and Wine Tour on Saturday, 10/6/18 and had a great time. The day goes by quickly and you can’t believe 3+ hours have passed. The guide takes you on a journey through town, and ours had us making 7 stops along the way. Your trip may be different, as I’m told the stops vary from tour to tour. The first stop was at Café Carmel – where we all were treated to a full slice of fresh made spinach quiche and listened to the owner’s story of how the place was started and her passion for baking. The owner / baker was a lovely woman, and although the quiche was delicious, it was rather ordinary, in my opinion. Next we went to Carmel Honey Company where we learned about the details of honey making and more interestingly, that the company is owned and operated by a 15 year-old. TRUTH! There were other stops for house-made pasta and farm fresh butternut squash soup, as well as artisan olive oil, balsamic vinegar and chocolate tastings. The most interesting and fun stop was to Cultura Mexican restaurant which serves authentic Oaxacan cuisine, including fried grasshoppers. A fun and interesting experience. Our group of 16 was very diverse but everyone becomes like family after wonderful food and drink. Highly recommend!

All four of the ladies in our group really enjoyed this tour. Bonnie our tour guide was VERY nice and knowledgeable. She didn't over do it so we were over whelmed but told us great interesting stories and facts about Carmel while still keeping the tour moving. It didn't even seem like 3 hours. The food was amazing, but the stories behind each place we stopped were even better. Thank you Bonnie! Keep up the good work.
