Our off-road and hiking tours are not recommended for people with conditions that will be aggravated by bumpy roads. We do our best to keep the bumps to a minimum but some roads are rugged and bumpy and you can expect some jostling.

What To Expect

Capitol Reef National Park

Join us for a drive through Capitol Reefs back country to a scenic paradise of desert landscapes in our luxury 4X4 vehicle through cathedrals, temples, buttes and hoodoos that will get you away from most all of the park’s visitors. We’ll ford the Fremont River and stop at the Bentonite Hills, walk around, take pictures, talk about the geology and history of the area, stop at viewpoints along the way and enjoy the solitude, visit the iconic Temples of the Sun and Moon, see geological oddities such as Glass Mountain and ancient lava flows. This trip has tons of photographic opportunities and is missed by most visitors to Capitol Reef due to its remote location and often times challenging roads. If you're looking for a Jeep tour of Capitol Reef give us a shot, we don't drive Jeep but have more comfortable luxury vehicle to accommodate larger groups, enjoy the air conditioning on those hot summer days or enclosed SUV with a heater for the chilly days! We do winter tours as well.

Jason was an excellent guide! He was knowledgeable about off the beaten path roads on the Burr Trail and Capital Reef. We saw exposed dinosaur bones, petroglyphs, pictographs, ancient oyster shells, and a slot canyon where we heard an "Out of Gas" bird sing. This was definitely the best tour we took on our 3 week trip out west! We highly recommend Jason's tour. You will learn a lot and have fun too!!

I have done four tours with Waterpocket Adventure Company! I have found that the tours are the best way to maximize my time and experience in the Capitol Reef area. Each tour offers a unique experience that a lot of visitors to the national park miss. Because of my tours with the guide, Jason, Capitol Reef has become one of my favorite national parks (I’ve been to 32)! Jason is very accommodating of his clients desires and very generous with his time. A sunrise tour and a late night stargazing tour in the same day was no problem!! He is very knowledgeable and will explain a lot of the history and geology of the area (if you’re nerdy like me and want to know). At the very least you will have some awesome pictures and a story to tell!

Capitol Reef is a stunning place of beauty. But you haven't seen it all until you take a Waterpocket private tour. Our guide knew all the cool, prettiest, and strange spots beyond the paved scenic drive. You'll get lots of fascinating geologic info, as well as plenty of gorgeous scenery. Chilled water, snacks, and plenty of stops to take photographs and enjoy the view. My favorite things were Glass Mountain and grabbing a shot of beetle tracks! Cannot wait to go on another trip with this company!
