Our off-road and hiking tours are not recommended for people with conditions that will be aggravated by bumpy roads. We do our best to keep the bumps to a minimum but some roads are rugged and bumpy and you can expect some jostling.

What To Expect

Capitol Reef National Park

Join us for a drive through Capitol Reefs back country to a scenic paradise of desert landscapes in our luxury 4X4 vehicle through cathedrals, temples, buttes and hoodoos that will get you away from most all of the park’s visitors. We’ll ford the Fremont River and stop at the Bentonite Hills, walk around, take pictures, talk about the geology and history of the area, stop at viewpoints along the way and enjoy the solitude, visit the iconic Temples of the Sun and Moon, see geological oddities such as Glass Mountain and ancient lava flows. This trip has tons of photographic opportunities and is missed by most visitors to Capitol Reef due to its remote location and often times challenging roads. If you're looking for a Jeep tour of Capitol Reef give us a shot, we don't drive Jeep but have more comfortable luxury vehicle to accommodate larger groups, enjoy the air conditioning on those hot summer days or enclosed SUV with a heater for the chilly days! We do winter tours as well.

I had a really great experience going on a tour with Jason. I called him after a word-of-mouth recommendation from a fellow solo traveler. He quite literally picked me up maybe 20-30 minutes later, as he happened to have some time in his day. I did a half day tour with him. He is extremely knowledgeable, and easy-going. He showed me parts of Cathedral Valley, including the Temples, and Glass Mountain. I never would've been able to get there on my own. We also stopped in a few areas for a short walk in to see some cool things that I never would've found on my own, like dinosaur bones! He even provided snacks and drinks.

Jason was amazing! His knowledge of the area and the ability to take walks in areas where one might encounter some animals but absolutely no other hikers made our excursion just superb. My wife and I would highly recommend him.

In July 2021, I took a wonderful half-day tour with Jason. Tour highlights included Cathedral Valley (including Temple of the Sun, Temple of the Moon, and Temple of the Stars); Jailhouse Rock; and Lower South Desert Overlook. We even saw portions of a fossilized dinosaur skeleton! The tour was by far the highlight of my visit to Capitol Reef and Southeastern Utah. I highly recommend Jason and Waterpocket Adventure Company. Jason is extremely knowledgeable and friendly and a great communicator. And he never tired of all my questions! I promise you will not be disappointed.
