Heads up, you go down 80 feet of stairs which you will have to climb back up at the end of the tour. So worth it! The cave was gorgeous, the tour was great and the guide was so knowledgeable. Definitely recommend.

Just a few miles off I-10 West and less than half an hour from San Antonio is this National Natural Wonder. The winding road just past the City of Boerne is scenic in itself, and the cave entrance is tucked away from the main road. Lots of picnic spots dot the grounds and the small gift shop/admission counter sells ice cream and soft drinks. The tour itself lasts an hour. Wear good walking shoes - and perhaps ones you don't value because they can get muddy. Ditz the heels! The narrated tour is fascinating and as you go deeper and deeper, it is more and more fascinating. The geological formations are enchanting and the acoustics are amazing. Definitely a spot for photo taking - at every turn! The one warning is that there is a steep 8-flight climb to get out - so hold onto the rails and take your time. You will leave with respect for how this cave has been protected and maintained and feel this was a trip you're glad you made.
