Very good family-owned Cave on the outskirts of Boerne out in the country. Nice tour guide. Laid back and low key; smaller number of people on our tour. They have an adequate gift shop too with many mineral specimens. Recommend a stop for a cool experience.

Had the distinct pleasure of touring the Cave Without A Name in Boerne, Texas today. One might wonder how a cave, open for tours, would have no name. Well, it happened in 1940. This cave didnā€™t open for tours until 1939 and the then owner decided to have a contest to name the cave. A young boy won the contest when he submitted the cave was too beautiful to be named. The second owner tried to rename it in 1950, but the locals were having none of it. In 2009 Cave Without a Name was declared a National Natural Landmark by the National Park Service. I have not been to more than ten caves in my life, but I can say this cave is the most breathtaking in more than one way. The formations that nature has made with water and limestone are beyond belief. The 126 steps can be breathtaking coming back up if you arenā€™t in shape. By the time I got to the top my legs were feeling a bit rubbery. This is definitely not a tour for individuals with heart or breathing problems. There was a little girl on the tour with us and she skipped up the steps. Guess that is the difference between being 7 and 73. Oh well. I made it and thatā€™s all that counts. If you are anywhere within an hourā€™s drive from Boerne, Texas, you owe it to yourself to check this place out. They have places for picnics and a very nice gift shop with a wonderful display of Geodes for sale.
