Charleston Ghost & Graveyard Tour
Meet your guide at a central meeting point, then proceed to the graveyard where you will hear about Charleston's spirits and gruesome tales such as: • The ghost of Sue Howard, a grieving mother who prays at the grave of her dead child from the spirit world. Your guide has the picture to prove it. • The Great Nullifier, famous rebel warrior John C. Calhoun. Find out why he and his wife still dance in the street every year, for over 150 years running. • Tales of being buried alive. Doctors in old Charleston didn't take chances with contagious diseases. Fall unconscious in a hospital, wake up in a grave.Learn why the terms saved by the bell and graveyard shift were coined. You will be glad you weren't around when they were. While other walking tours are looking in through the iron fence, you'll be on the inside. Learn the history of Charleston's haunted graveyards and hear tales about famous individuals who found their final resting place in the Holy City. Don't forget your flash cameras. You never know what phantom images you can capture...

Our tour guide, Ben, gave us a tour full of ghost tales and history. Ben was interesting, funny, and gave us lots of good facts about some of Charleston’s past. He encouraged questions from our group. The tour was an easy walk, and the route took us to the site of several known haunted places.

I was so excited about being shown some of the darker history of Charleston, but this tour missed the mark entirely. Maybe it was just our guide, but aside from a couple of interesting stories and being in the graveyard at night, this stunk. "Spooky" stories shouldn't be boisterously and loudly told with a punchline. Find another tour, I wish we would have.

That's some tough love, Melissa, and we're grateful for it. What we're hearing from you is that the tour wasn't scary enough, that the atmosphere wasn't solemn enough, that it wasn't sufficiently "spooky" for you. We're sorry about that, so we're following up with your guide to reflect and respond with some improvements to their tour. Please contact Randy Johnson, our Guide Manager, at [email protected], to explore ways we might draw you back for a second chance. Huge thanks for letting us know.

Cemeteries are fascinating, day or night. Learning the history of some Charleston residents gone by was educational and fun. Adam really has a good passion for the subject and his enthusiasm really made the tour fun.

Thanks so much for your review! We completely agree that cemeteries and graveyards are fascinating. Many of our guides, including Adam, refer to themselves as "taphophiles" who are people who have an deep interest in graveyards and tombstones. We are thrilled to hear you enjoyed the tour. Thanks again!
