Charleston Ghost & Graveyard Tour
Meet your guide at a central meeting point, then proceed to the graveyard where you will hear about Charleston's spirits and gruesome tales such as: • The ghost of Sue Howard, a grieving mother who prays at the grave of her dead child from the spirit world. Your guide has the picture to prove it. • The Great Nullifier, famous rebel warrior John C. Calhoun. Find out why he and his wife still dance in the street every year, for over 150 years running. • Tales of being buried alive. Doctors in old Charleston didn't take chances with contagious diseases. Fall unconscious in a hospital, wake up in a grave.Learn why the terms saved by the bell and graveyard shift were coined. You will be glad you weren't around when they were. While other walking tours are looking in through the iron fence, you'll be on the inside. Learn the history of Charleston's haunted graveyards and hear tales about famous individuals who found their final resting place in the Holy City. Don't forget your flash cameras. You never know what phantom images you can capture...

We loved the tour. It is very apparent that Adam has such passion for the rich history and lore of Charleston. Very good story teller!! Felt very connected to the city and it’s local charm.

We have been on tours in Savannah and came with high expectations. We were sorely disappointed. Kind of boring.

Cheryl and Bobby, thanks ever so much for your thoughtful and penetrating commentary. If you were trying to get our attention by comparing us unfavorably to Savannah, it worked. Such a down-to-the-bone cut could have resulted in a challenge to a duel in the distant past. Today no one is brandishing a flintlock pistol, but it does trigger much self-reflection and gnashing of teeth here at Bulldog Central. Charleston's antebellum ancestors used to refer to Savannah as their "less pretty sister", adding under their breath that they hoped she "married well" (a kind of backhanded prayer - not unlike "bless your little heart"). The Palmetto City and her younger sister to the south are, hopefully, more grown-up these days, but they will always be a tad bit competitive. Charleston tries to set the bar, and, of course, so does Savannah, but we here in Charleston like to think we are the gold standard. It hurts deeply, on an existential level, when our guests beg to differ. We are doubling down and will try that much harder to scare the bejesus out of our guests. "Kind of boring" will not do! Cheryl and Bobby, please, please come back! Give us another chance. Contact Randy Johnson, our Guide Manager, at [email protected], to explore ways we can make this right by you. A huge thanks for letting us know and we hope you had a fantastic Labor Day Weekend.

I had an out of town guest and wanted Her to experience a little fun while learning about the history of Charleston... Randy was our tour guide and he was a wealth of information and gave an excellent tour of many sites around the city including a guided tour of a grave yard at night! I would highly recommend this tour and recommend Randy as your guide! Thomas Howe
