Meet your guide at a central meeting point, then proceed to the graveyard where you will hear about Charleston's spirits and gruesome tales such as: • The ghost of Sue Howard, a grieving mother who prays at the grave of her dead child from the spirit world. Your guide has the picture to prove it. • The Great Nullifier, famous rebel warrior John C. Calhoun. Find out why he and his wife still dance in the street every year, for over 150 years running. • Tales of being buried alive. Doctors in old Charleston didn't take chances with contagious diseases. Fall unconscious in a hospital, wake up in a grave.Learn why the terms saved by the bell and graveyard shift were coined. You will be glad you weren't around when they were. While other walking tours are looking in through the iron fence, you'll be on the inside. Learn the history of Charleston's haunted graveyards and hear tales about famous individuals who found their final resting place in the Holy City. Don't forget your flash cameras. My husband and I had such a fun time. There were no children on our tour, so our guide could be a little more free with her story telling. Carol, was so funny, but really brought us into the stories. She put her own personal twist into each story which made them so much more believable. She gave us tips for picture taking, even if all you had was your phone. I got some pretty cool shots which I've added below. If you could see the "live" iPhone shot, you'd really be impressed. I would definitely take another tour with Bulldog Tours again, but would look for Carol to be the guide.

First, I want to start and give credit to our tour guide David. He was awesome and did well with the delivery of his stories. However, this tour left much to be desired. For $27 you would expect the bells and whistles. The tour kept overlapping with other large guided groups which took the spooky element down significantly. The group is much too large for a walking tour this made it difficult to hear most of the stories. You get to go into one cemetery that is dark-ish, but not in a spooky way. I feel you could take this tour during the day and have just as much “fun”. Finally, I would add, had this tour cost even half as much, it may be worth your money. I’m not saying don’t go because they have a lot of tours to offer that may be well worth the money, in my opinion this particular one was not.

We hear you! These are very thoughtful comments. We are taking them to heart and implementing some modifications to the tour routes to eliminate the tight spots. Please feel free to contact Randy Johnson, our Guide Manager, at [email protected], so we can discuss ways to make this right. Huge thanks for letting us know. We also appreciate the kind words for David. He's a great guide and we're grateful to have him. Hope you're having a great summer!

First off, the group was too big. There were other groups also overlapping our group to where we didn’t know if it was an echo or what! Too many guides in one place. It was sad. The guide leader was too old, too tired, too winded, too rude to a group of teenagers he asked at the beginning if they were good teenagers or bad... not my kids but, it was rude. I couldn’t hear him half the time. I even told him I couldn’t and he said sorry but did nothing to rectify the problem. If you weren’t walking or standing next to him it was impossible to understand him. I’m all for equal opportunity hiring but, the lack of pep and volume of his voice was contagious! I felt sleepy and bored out of my mind. The stories and “facts” that were told were mostly wrong and extremely rehearsed as if on autopilot. I took my out of the country friend and felt embarrassed that this was the experience she was receiving. We were rushed and only 2 people tipped. A lot of us ended up at the same place afterwards and my thoughts were reciprocated as well. I don’t know if a different guide would have livened it up? Maybe someone that doesn’t sound like a voice recording telling stories... just so sad, disappointed that my friend spent money on that instead of something she would be able to take back home and boast about. It will more than likely be a joke telling session. There was one positive and that is, I won’t waste the time or money for all the other friends and family that are or will visit doing this again. Super bummed... I’m not a bad review leaver either. I hate that I can’t find anything positive to say I took away from the experience. Oh, the front desk workers were Extremely polite and welcoming. The End

We are taking your feedback to heart and implementing some modifications to the tour routes to eliminate the tight spots. We are also following up with your guide to make some behavioral adjustments. Unfortunately, not even Ponce de Leon's Fountain of Youth can make him any younger, although I'm sure he'd be down for that. Please contact Randy Johnson, our Guide Manager, at [email protected], so we can discuss ways to make this right by you. Huge thanks for letting us know and we hope you have a great rest of the summer!
