Old Exchange & Provost Dungeon

Stop by The Old Exchange & Provost Dungeon, one of the most haunted buildings in Charleston. Since the late 1600s, the Exchange and Dungeon have existed in one form or another. Once a walled prison, it has been a haven for those seeking freedom as well as a dark and gruesome spot for prisoners caught on the wrong side of authority.

Our guide for the Death and Depravity tour was Don, and he was fantastic! He was a great storyteller and very engaged with the group. He clearly loves Charleston and its macabre history and just as clearly loves sharing it. The stories were memorable and I learned a lot. I go on ghost tours pretty regularly when I travel and this was one of the best ones I've been on in a while. Highly recommend!

Great tour lead by Bert!! Had a great time learning all about the history of the area and got some great stories of old criminals and distressed ghosts. Definitely would recommend and will be doing some other tours as well. 😁❤️

This tour was AWESOME! Our tour guide was Catie, she was very knowledgeable in the history of Charleston, as well as the gruesome dark past of the town and the people that once walk the streets. My boyfriend and I had a blast! We were the only two on the tour, and it was awesome. At our last stop, my boyfriend took some pictures of the graveyard (stuck his phone in between the bars on the gate). Catie, check this out!
